Putting down our roots.
Northeast Woodland established its home in the Mt. Washington Valley in 2020, acquiring space at the Valley Tech Village, formerly occupied by Granite State College. Today, this public Waldorf school serves 175 students ages 4–14 and is nearing enrollment capacity. Strong financial stewardship and a compelling educational model have positioned Northeast Woodland for stability, overcoming the funding challenges common to charter schools. A dedicated staff of 34 delivers a rich arts and music program, immersive outdoor education, and a student-driven learning experience responsive to each child’s interests and needs.

The role of philanthropy.
Charter schools are public schools, yet in New Hampshire they currently receive a little over $9,300 per student each year to cover materials, teachers, and staff. By comparison, in 2024/25, traditional public schools statewide spent an average of just over $26,000 per pupil. We were able to educate our students during that same school year for $12,478 per pupil, leaving us a $3,178 per pupil “gap” that exists every year and is only filled by the community, corporate, and grant support Northeast Woodland receives.

We are ready for more.
To secure Northeast Woodland’s permanent home in the Valley, the school has launched the $4.5 million Growing Roots Capital Campaign. This campaign will fund the purchase of the adjoining building and surrounding land, preventing future commercial development and ensuring the school’s long-term presence. In addition, the campaign will also focus on retaining and supporting our exceptional faculty and staff, whose dedication and expertise are at the heart of the Northeast Woodland experience.

Fiscal responsibility anchors our sustainability model. With a $1.1 million purchase price and a $6 million appraised replacement value, this investment creates immediate equity and a lasting foundation for students, faculty, and the future of the school.

Gifts may be accepted as -- cash, stock, charitable remainder trust, grants, multi-year pledges
